A day in the life

sheep_bridge2_sm.jpgJust a mini-post. We went walking today to get some exercise. There are lots of trails around here, and just hiking is a challenge because we’re twice as high as Denver CO, so there’s no air. Also, many of the trails go up at a 45 degree incline. But, they’re really pretty, like this picture (which we took on our “medium difficulty” hike). Anyways, this is a good example of how we are always working, even though it feels like we are hardly ever working. We passed a group of laborers who were resting at the side of the trail, and ended up talking to them for about half an hour. This happens to us all the time here. They told us some about the local work scene, we answered some of their questions about America (like, “Do they eat tortillas? Do they all drive everywhere in cars?”), and we talked to them some about our work here, which includes teaching about preventive health as well as helping needy families to construct sanitary infrastructure. We then invited them to attend tomorrow’s health seminar we’re putting on. If you flip back to the Three Peace Corps Missions in one of the first posts, you would see that we hit them all. Go team!
